Olaria App, Terms of Service

Effective: August 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Olaria by Jenn ("Olaria", "we", "us"), operated by Jennifer Nxumalo in Johannesburg, South Africa, covering your use of the Olaria mobile application. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. What Olaria is, and what it isn't

Olaria is a budgeting journal. It gives you a place to record your income, spending, savings, debts and net worth, organise them into buckets, and read monthly reflections, including AI-generated readings of the numbers you've entered.

Olaria is not financial advice. The app's insights, readings and suggestions are general information generated from the figures you record. They are not personal financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and they may contain errors. Decisions about your money remain yours, and for significant decisions you should consult a qualified professional. Olaria never connects to your bank accounts; everything in your journal is what you write in it.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate information when signing up and keep your login details private. You're responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 18, or have the consent of a parent or guardian. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete my account, which permanently removes your account and journal data as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Subscription, free trial and billing

Olaria costs R49.99 per month or R499.99 per year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers on either plan. Billing is handled entirely by Apple through your App Store account; we never see or store your payment details.

• Your subscription renews automatically at your chosen plan price (R49.99/month or R499.99/year) when the trial ends and at each renewal after, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.

• Cancel anytime in your App Store account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone). Cancelling during the trial means you pay nothing.

• If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for (or the trial).

• Prices may change; we'll give you notice through the app or by email before any change affects you, and Apple will ask you to confirm.

• Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies; request them at reportaproblem.apple.com. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act.

4. Your content

Your journal entries are yours. You give us only the limited permission needed to store, process and display them back to you, including sending your figures to our AI provider to generate your monthly readings, as described in the Privacy Policy. We don't sell your data.

5. Fair use

Don't misuse the app: no attempts to break, probe or overload it, no reverse-engineering, no using it for anything unlawful, and no reselling access. We may suspend or close accounts that do.

6. Availability and changes

We work to keep Olaria available and improving, but it's provided "as is": we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free, and features may change over time. We'll aim to give notice of significant changes. If we ever discontinue the app, we'll give you reasonable notice to export your data.

7. Liability

To the extent the law allows, Olaria isn't liable for indirect losses or for financial outcomes of decisions you make based on your journal or its readings. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your statutory consumer rights in South Africa.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

9. Changes to these terms

If we update these terms, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and flag material changes in the app. Continuing to use Olaria after changes take effect means you accept them.
